Effective tips for teaching tier 2 and 3 terms that’ll improve learning outcomes

When teaching tier 3 vocabulary, it’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking students’ understanding will be enriched by complex definitions of these terms. However, such abstract definitions of scientific words often leave learners dumbfounded and confused. This article shares a super replicable approach used by a science teacher to embed new vocabulary in a way that sticks: define, build, examples and practice.
