Research by teacher trainer Robert Campbell shows that continuing professional development (CPD) on microscale chemistry boosts early career teachers’ (ECTs) and trainee teachers’ confidence with practical work. This article summarises this chemistry education research and its conclusions, alongside a PGCE student sharing her experience of using a microscale approach to teach displacement reactions.
